"The Jeans factor"

Jeans are trousers made from denim. Some of the earliest American blue jeans were made by Jacob Davis, Calvin Rogers, and Levi Strauss in 1873. Starting in the 1950s, jeans, originally designed for cowboys, became popular among teenagers. The most historic American jean brands include Levi's, Lee, and Wrangler. Blue jeans come progressively in various fits including skinny, straight, boot cut, maternity, boyfriend and flare.
Today, denim is not only used for trousers, but also for other types of clothing, like dresses, skirts, shirts, overalls and handbags. Levi's remains one of the most popular jean brands in the fashion industry, and became an inspiration for many designers and companies to start their own jean lines. Famous fashion houses, such as Gucci, YSL, Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Dior, Burberry, Chanel and many more, increasingly integrated jeans in their fashion collections, stating that jeans surely plays a fundamental role in the fashion industry.

Το τζην είναι παντελόνι κατασκευασμένο από ύφασμα ντενιμ. Κάποια από τα πρώτα αμερικάνικα μπλου-τζην, δημιουργήθηκαν από τον Jacob Davis, τον Calvin Rogers και τον Levi Strauss το 1873. Από το 1950, τα τζην, που αρχικά είχαν σχεδιαστεί για τους cowboys, έγιναν δημοφιλή και στους εφήβους. Οι πιο ιστορικές μάρκες τζην περιλαμβάνουν την Levi's, τη Lee, και τη Wrangler. Τα blue jeans βγαίνουν σταδιακά σε πολλές μορφές, συμπεριλαμβάνοντας το skinny, το straight, το boot cut, το τζην για μητέρες, το "boyfriend" και το flare.
Σήμερα το ύφασμα τζην δε χρησιμοποιείται μόνο για παντελόνια, αλλά και για άλλες μορφές ρούχων, όπως τα φορέματα, οι φούστες, τα πουκάμισα, οι σαλοπέτες και οι τσάντες. Η Levi's παραμένει μια από τις πιο δημοφιλείς μάρκες τζην στη βιομηχανία της μόδας, και αποτέλεσε πηγή έμπνευσης για πολλούς σχεδιαστές και πολλές εταιρείες, για να ξεκινήσουν τις δικές τους σειρές. Διάσημοι οίκοι μόδας, όπως οι Gucci, YSL, Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Dior, Burberry, Chanel και πολλοί ακόμα, αυξανόμενα ενσωμάτωσαν το τζην στις συλλογές τους, δηλώνοντας έτσι πως το τζην σίγουρα παίζει ένα θεμελιώδη ρόλο στη βιομηχανία της μόδας.
